Legal

Privacy policy.

What I collect when you use this site, what I do with it, where it lives, and how to reach me if you want to access, correct, or delete any of it.

Effective: May 18, 2026

I keep this short because the site itself is simple. If your situation is different from what's described here — say you sent me information through a different channel — the same principles apply.

What I collect

Two things, depending on what you do on the site:

When you fill out a contact form: your name, email address, the topic you selected, and whatever you wrote in the message field. Plus the consent checkbox confirming you'd like to hear back from me.

When you subscribe to the newsletter: just your email address.

I do not use cookies for tracking. The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-respecting by design: it does not set cookies and does not track you across sites. The aggregate stats I see are anonymised.

How I use it

Form submissions: to reply to you, follow up on your enquiry, and (if you become a client) carry the conversation through the mortgage process.

Newsletter signups: to send you the monthly newsletter and nothing else. You can unsubscribe with one click from any newsletter email.

I do not sell, rent, or share your information with anyone for marketing purposes. I do not buy email lists.

Where it lives

Your information is processed by a small number of third parties so the site can function. Each has their own published privacy practices:

Some of these providers store data on servers outside Canada. By using the site you consent to that cross-border processing where it applies.

How long I keep it

Contact form submissions: as long as our conversation is active, plus a reasonable retention period for business records — typically up to seven years, which aligns with general financial record-keeping practice in Canada.

Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe. When you do, your email is removed from the active list, though MailerLite may retain a suppression record so you don't accidentally get re-subscribed.

If you'd like me to delete your information sooner, see the next section.

Your rights

Under PIPEDA (the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act), you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information I hold about you.
  • Correct it if anything is inaccurate.
  • Request deletion of it, subject to any legal retention obligations.
  • Withdraw consent at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email me at alex@alexjodoinmortgages.ca with what you're asking for. I'll respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If I change anything material, I'll update the effective date at the top of this page and note what changed. Minor edits — typos, clarifications, broken links — won't trigger a notice.
